JOHANNESBURG – Wednesday was World Post Day.
It brings awareness to the role of posts in the everyday lives of people and businesses. 
Here in South Africa, the situation is bleak.
The South African Post Office is struggling to survive.

Workers were retrenched through a section 189 process, after the SOE entered business rescue in July 2023.
There were fears that the Post Office would enter Day Zero in October.
